Privacy

We collect what the site needs to run your account and your courses, and nothing for advertising. No ad trackers, no analytics scripts, no selling of data.

TutorPlus is running as a demo. Do not enter information you would not want stored on a test site.

What we store

Your account: name, email, a hashed password (we never see the password itself), and a photo if you upload one.
Your learning: the courses you enroll in, completed lessons, quiz scores, certificates, saved courses and the reviews you write.
Tutor chats: the questions you ask the course tutor and its replies, kept with your enrollment so the conversation continues.
Payments: the price and date of each enrollment. Payments are in test mode right now, so no card details are collected at all.
Instructors: the public profile (headline, bio, website and links), the courses you build, and private payout details used only to send you money.
Security logs: your IP address for a short time, to rate limit sign in attempts and block abuse.

Why we use it

To let you log in, give you access to the courses you enrolled in, save your progress, issue certificates, let the tutor answer in context, pay instructors, and keep the site safe. We send email only about your account and your courses: a welcome note, enrollment receipts, completion notes, and for instructors, application, course and payout updates.

What other people see

Reviews show your first name and last initial, never your email. Certificates show your name and the course, and anyone with the certificate link can open it. Instructors see the first name and last initial of their students with their progress, but not their email or tutor chats. Instructor profiles are public.

Services we share it with

The AI provider (Anthropic, maker of Claude): when the AI engine is connected, the course outline, the current lesson, your first name and your recent tutor messages are sent to write each reply. On this site the engine is not connected yet, and the tutor runs locally without sending anything out.
Stripe, for card payments when live payments are switched on.
Video hosts such as YouTube or Vimeo, when a lesson embeds a video from them. They may set their own cookies.

Cookies

We use the cookies WordPress needs to keep you logged in, and a small amount of browser storage to remember things like which tab you had open. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

Your account data stays while your account exists. Enrollment and payment records are kept for bookkeeping. Security logs expire within hours.

Your choices

You can change your name, email, password and photo in My learning, Settings, and edit or update your reviews from the player. To get a copy of your data or have your account deleted, ask the site admin; we will do it unless we must keep a record, such as a payment.
